It runs where your school already works.

Viva is one system with several front doors. The same core reads the homework, runs the viva and produces the evidence — what changes is where the student meets it and where the teacher receives it.

Day schools, and any school without an LMS

The student: The student sends one message with a class code to join, once. From then on they photograph their homework and send it. The viva arrives as voice notes; they reply with voice notes.
The teacher: The verdict arrives in the teacher’s own WhatsApp. If they reply, Viva sends the homework photo, the full conversation and the student’s recordings straight into the chat — a teacher who will never open a website never has to.
Setup: A class code and the teacher’s number. There is nothing to install, no account for a student to create, and no password for anyone to forget.

Moodle, and any LTI 1.3 platform

Schools running their own LMS

The student: The student opens the activity in the course, submits their work — typed, or a photo, PDF or Word upload — plays the spoken question, and records the answer in the browser.
The teacher: An instructor launch signs the teacher straight into the evidence view for that activity. No second login and no separate dashboard: audio, transcript, rubric, and accept, override or re-viva.
Setup: Your admin registers the tool once. Teachers then attach a Viva to any assignment through Deep Linking, and the gradebook column is created for them.

Google Classroom

Schools on Google Workspace for Education

The student: The teacher shares a Viva to the class; students open it from the assignment they already have.
The teacher: The verdict reaches the teacher the same way it does everywhere else, and the evidence view opens scoped to that class.
Setup: Share-to-Classroom works on every Classroom edition. Schools on Education Plus can install the add-on so Viva appears inside the assignment creator itself.

Microsoft Teams for Education

The student: The same LTI 1.3 path Moodle uses.
The teacher: The same evidence view, scoped to the activity.
Setup: Registered as an LTI 1.3 tool by your admin, exactly as with Moodle.

Viva is a standards-conformant LTI 1.3 tool, validated end to end against Moodle 4.5 — launch, deep link, gradebook write-back and roster lookup, all against a real instance rather than a test harness.

Launch: OIDC third-party-initiated login, with the id_token validated against the platform’s JWKS on every launch.
Deep Linking: Teachers attach a Viva from inside the assignment creator; the tool returns the content item and the gradebook column follows.
AGS: On completion, Viva posts an understanding signal (0–100) to the line item created at deep-link time — explicitly labelled “for review, not a grade”, with gradingProgress FullyGraded. Best-effort: a gradebook failure never costs the student their viva.
NRPS: Where a launch omits a student’s name, we resolve it from the course roster rather than showing “LTI student”. Queried at most once per new student.
Scoping: An instructor launch mints a session scoped to that resource link, so a teacher sees the submissions for that activity and nothing else. Verified against a live platform.
Media: The student records in-browser with MediaRecorder. Audio is uploaded directly to storage under our own keys; nothing is stored before parental consent exists.

One thing worth configuring properly

Set the activity to open in a new window. Browsers block the microphone and the file picker inside a cross-origin LMS iframe — Viva detects that and offers a full-window breakout, so it works either way, but configuring it correctly saves your students a tap.
